Priorities
  • Achieve excellence for all

  • Ensure that we are being appropriately inclusive in those that are recognized to have
    special needs
  • Ensure that IEP and 504 plans are understood and followed
  • including students across the academic spectrum
  • from currently struggling to gifted
  • All students are important, all students can excel
  • When all students succeed, all students benefit
  • To succeed we must
  • Care deeply
  • Challenge rigorously
  • Teach creatively
  • Use variety of methods to reach variety of needs
  • Success stories elsewhere demonstrate that we can do this

  • Create an environment in which students love to learn and in which all feel
    welcome

  • Motivation is enhanced when curriculum material is relevant as well as rigorous
  • Diverse cultures should be represented in curriculum and in cultural arts
  • Positive behavior support systems should be used consistently to be sure that all clearly
    understand:
  • What types of behavior are encouraged and what types are unacceptable
  • Cultural differences in expression and behavior
  • Consequences for misbehavior that are equitable and appropriate
  • Well-targeted enrichment and supplemental resources readily available to teachers and
    parents

  • Maximize parent and community participation

  • Communicate issues and opportunities regularly
  • Look for opportunities to encourage parents to mentor and assist each other
  • Encourage input from all segments of community, and respond appropriately
  • Work with businesses and community organizations to increase volunteers and internships

  • Recruit, retain, and support excellent teachers and staff

  • We should strive to be known as a place where teachers enjoy working
  • We should strive to be known as a place where expectations are high, but support and
training are provided and success is the norm
  • We need to reward those who are successful in helping each student achieve growth
    objectives
  • We need to provide immediate guidance and oversight when student growth objectives are
    not being met

  • Use our limited resources wisely

  • Follow-up: Make plans reality
Together, we can make a difference!

When we all achieve, we all succeed!
